We recommend using separate clusters for your Preprod and Production environments. This lets you completely isolate your environments which improves security.

Setting up multi cluster

For remote environments (e.g. Preprod and Production) you typically won’t need lots of the development tools such as:

Lighthouse
Tekton
Webhooks
Nexus / Bucketrepo

And install only services to run and expose your applications, e.g.:

Nginx-ingress
Cert-manager
kubernetes external secrets for populating Secrets from your secret store (vault or cloud provider secret manager)
push-wave for automatically performing rolling upgrades when secrets are rotated in your secret store

Create a git repository for your remote cluster using a cut down repository you might want to start with:

This is an example on how to build a multi-cluster environment having two separate cluster repos (i.e. ‘dev’ and ‘prod’). The steps will include building a GKE/GSM/DSN environment from scratch for both environments, and deploying projects to staging and the remote production. It will use DNS (jx3rocks.com), TLS, Let’s Encrypt certificates. This example is intended for an audience already familiar with JayeX operability and focuses on an example of actual commands used to build a multi-cluster environment.
